through Service

Dear Sugar Land Council District 2 Residents,

I am pleased to announce myself as a candidate to serve the residents of Sugar Land’s District 2 as Council Member in the May 4, 2019 election.

As the District 2 Council Member my goal will be to serve my neighbors and all the residents of District 2.  Work to balance the need for excellence in city services with keeping our taxes low, foster economic development or redevelopment that brings value to our community, achieving the continued maintenance and enhancement of the quality of life in Sugar Land.  This continues the work of my professional career, 38 years as a Civil Engineer providing improved transportation opportunities for the Houston region.  Working with leaders and organizations throughout the region, I participated in many projects that have upgraded the mobility and safety on our highways and thereby helped to improve our quality of life.

Our family moved from Houston to Sugar Land in 1991 and raised our children here.  I have lived these past 28 years in what is now Sugar Land City Council District 2, and during that time have served my neighbors in many roles, both volunteer and elected.  I hope you will take a few minutes to learn more about me and my family.  I hope you will take some time to read more; connect with us on Facebook at @DavidGornetforSLD2; or contact me directly at david@gornet.net with any questions and concerns you have.  I welcome hearing from residents about their thoughts on how the City can continue to improve.

I ask for your help, support and vote to be elected as the next Sugar Land City Council Member for District 2.
